Electric bikes (ebikes) are bicycles fitted with an electric motor that provides an 'assist' to the bike's rider making hills and long distance cycling so much easier.    Ebikes offer the same great benefits as traditional bicycles including improved health and connection with community.  They also enable many people who would find it difficult to ride an ordinary bike to cycle regularly.  With an ebike cyclists can travel greater distances and ride for longer.

Ebike loan - funding through Energy Saving Trust

If you are considering purchasing an ebike there is a new, exciting funding opportunity available in Scotland through Energy Saving Trust. This scheme is funded by Transport Scotland (an agency of the Scottish Government). 

The ebike loan is for up to £6,000 with a repayment period of 4 years and covers the following (per household):

• 2 x ebikes capped at £3,000 each
• 1 x family ecargo bike capped at £6,000
• 1 x adaptive ebike capped at £6,000
